Meet Mary Lou Mastro, MS, RN, FACHE, President & CEO of Edward-Elmhurst Health. An inspiring leader, Mary Lou joined Edward Hospital in 1988 as Director of Cardiovascular Services. From 2002-2013, she served as President of Linden Oaks at Edward (now Linden Oaks Behavioral Health), and from 2014-2016 she served as President & CEO of Elmhurst Hospital where she led record volume growth and financial stability. With more than 35 years working in hospitals, Mary Lou brings extensive experience in hospital strategy, operations, planning, licensure and regulatory compliance, public policy and advocacy, physician relations, new business development, and patient care. She has made it her mission to transform the healthcare experience by making it safe, seamless and personal.

A registered nurse, Mary Lou earned a BSN from DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana and holds a master’s degree from the Rush University College of Nursing. She is a member of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and a tireless advocate for the rights of persons with mental illness. She serves on the Board of Access DuPage, a community collaborative for 11,000 members who don’t have healthcare insurance or access to care. She is also chairperson of the Illinois Hospital Association steering committee for the Institute for Innovations in Care and Quality.
