Meet Mary Lou Mastro, MS, RN, CEO.

Mary Lou served as System Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Edward-Elmhurst Health since 2016. With more than 45 years working in hospitals and health systems she has made it her mission to transform the healthcare experience by making it safe, seamless and personal. As CEO, Mary Lou led the EEH merger with NorthShore, helping to enable the creation of NorthShore – Edward Elmhurst Health as a regional destination for differentiated vibrant, community connected healthcare.

Mary Lou now serves as CEO of the South Region of NorthShore – Edward-Elmhurst Health, which includes Edward Hospital, Elmhurst Hospital, and Linden Oaks Behavioral Health.

Mary Lou earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from DePauw University and her master’s degree from Rush University in Chicago. Among many honors, she received the Rotary Club of Naperville’s Paul Harris Community Service award for advocacy of mental health awareness and transforming Linden Oaks into a regional resource for mental healthcare. She is past Chairman of the American Hospital Association Governing Council for Psychiatric and Substance Abuse Services and is a past Trustee on the Illinois Hospital Association Board.

She currently serves on the Regional Policy Board for the American Hospital Association. She is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and is a board member of the Boys & Girls Club of Chicago and the Kennedy Forum Leadership Council.
