Meet Fadi Dahdaleh, MD, FACS, FSSO, a surgical oncologist with Edward-Elmhurst Medical Group and system medical director for minimally invasive cancer surgery at Edward-Elmhurst Health.

Dr. Dahdaleh is a highly skilled cancer surgeon who specializes in the treatment of gastrointestinal, hepatopancreatobiliary, soft tissue and cutaneous tumors. He certified by the American Board of Surgery in both General Surgery and Complex General Surgical Oncology.

Dr. Dahdaleh has particular interest and expertise in the operative management of gastrointestinal and hepatopancreaticobiliary cancers by utilizing cutting-edge, minimally invasive robotic-assisted approaches, including HIPEC. Recognized for his unique skill and knowledge, he is frequently invited to train and lecture practicing surgeons nationally to implement robotics into their practice.

As a member of the cancer center at Edward-Elmhurst Health, he works directly with dedicated multidisciplinary teams that include medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, gastroenterologists, radiologists, pathologists, genetic counselors and dietitians to deliver high quality, evidence-based care to his patients.

Prior to joining Edward-Elmhurst Health, he completed a general surgery residency and research fellowship in molecular biology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, as well as a fellowship in complex general surgical oncology at the University of Chicago, where he received additional specialized training in advanced robotic techniques.

Dr. Dahadaleh has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in the field of surgical oncology. He continues to present his work regionally and nationally and is active in mentoring students and surgeons in training. His research focuses on the effect of a surgical approach on cancer-related outcomes and on the impact of sociodemographic disparities on cancer care access.

He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Society of Surgical Oncology and American Society of Clinical Oncology. In addition, he serves as the director of the Robotics Steering Committee at Edward Hospital and is an active member of several national society and local committees.

Dr. Dahdaleh understands the importance of integrating minimally invasive techniques into multidisciplinary cancer care and the vital importance research plays in maintaining optimal patient outcomes. He continues to investigate means to enhance recovery in the short term while maximizing oncological benefits.
