Clinical rotations

At Edward Hospital, our goal is to foster an excellent learning experience for nursing students. We’re proud of the outstanding patient care and compassionate nursing that’s synonymous with Edward-Elmhurst Health.

Clinical nursing rotations – Edward Hospital

We offer clinical rotation experience as part of a nursing degree program in coordination with select, contracted schools. Other nursing internships are not available.

How to submit required forms

On this page, you’ll find links to required forms for school coordinators, faculty and students. You can submit forms as follows:

Undergraduate rotations

The following is information for undergraduate rotations.

For school coordinators and students

To request a clinical rotation, school coordinators should complete and email the Clinical Experience Request form.

At least two weeks prior to the rotation start date, complete and submit information for each student using the Student Data form.

Before orientation, review the Student Orientation Handbook with your students. Ask each of them to read and sign the Student Signature form below; you will also need to sign a form. These forms must be signed and returned on or before the first day of orientation:

Students are not permitted to begin clinical experiences until you submit the completed paperwork. Please download the forms, sign, scan and email to Edward-Elmhurst Health.


Post-rotation forms

At the end of each rotation, students should complete and submit the Student Evaluation form, which is also located in the student orientation handbook. If you would like to recognize a staff nurse who exceeded your expectations for the clinical rotation, complete and submit the Excellence in Clinical Teaching form.

For faculty

Review the Faculty Orientation Handbook.

HealthStream access

Once you receive your Epic log-in information, you may also access our HealthStream program from any Edward computer or from your home computer. HealthStream houses educational material including:

  • Epic tips sheets
  • Alaris pumps tutorials
  • Pyxis tutorial
  • Lift equipment tutorial

If you are connecting remotely from a non-Edward computer, copy this URL into your browser:

If you are using an Edward computer, go to My Edward/Education and Training/Learning at Edward. Click on “My Learning” and log into the system. Please contact our ISS department at 630-527-3346 if you have any difficulties accessing the program.

Job opportunities and shadowing

Edward hires current nursing students as patient care technicians. We also have a new graduate nursing program.

If you are looking for shadow or observation opportunities, contact our Volunteer Services department at 630-527-5305. Shadow opportunities are limited in number and involve one unit visit of up to four hours.
