Edward Hospital is accredited with distinction as a Practice Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs. At Edward Hospital, the current workplace settings included in this accreditation with distinction designation are Critical Care (ICU & CNICU), Medical (Pulmonary Care), Oncology (Medical Oncology), Surgical (Surgical Care Unit & OrthoSpine), Medical Surgical (Cardiac Telemetry 7 & Cardiac Telemetry 3), and Step-Down Unit (Cardiac Telemetry 2/8).

Elmhurst Hospital is also accredited with distinction as a Practice Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs. At Elmhurst Hospital, the current workplace settings included in this accreditation with distinction designation are Medical-Surgical (Surgical Oncology, Ortho Neuro Spine, Cardiovascular/Telemetry, and 5 Medical), Critical Care, Labor & Delivery, and Ante/Postpartum.

Accreditation with Distinction is the highest recognition awarded by the ANCC’s Accreditation Program.

Edward-Elmhurst Health is honored to offer nurse residency programs that exemplify a global standard and demonstrate excellence in transitioning graduate nurses to new practice settings. 

During the program, each nurse resident will be assigned a facilitator or preceptor to help ensure a successful transition into nursing within a safe, nurturing learning environment.

Curriculum concepts include:

  • Communication and teamwork
  • Patient-centered care
  • Safety and quality

Critical thinking, professional accountability and responsibility are all emphasized throughout the program.
