Annual Events

Linden Oaks hosts public programs throughout the year to raise awareness of mental health issues and provide support to the community.

Music and the Mind

The Music and the Mind event features a lecture-recital by Juilliard-trained concert pianist and Harvard-educated psychiatrist Dr. Richard Kogan. His performance explores the impact of psychological factors and psychiatric illness on the creative output of the great composers. At last year’s event, Kogan profiled American composer George Gershwin (1898-1937). The program included performances of Gershwin masterpieces such as Rhapsody in Blue and Porgy and Bess.

Annual ANAD Candlelight Vigil presented by Linden Oaks

Each year, Linden Oaks Behavioral Health and the National Association of Anorexia Nervosa and Associated Disorders host an annual Candlelight Vigil for those affected by eating disorders. The event is held in the Healing Garden of Linden Oaks Behavioral Health, on the campus of Edward Hospital. Nearly 300 people attend the event, which is held to help motivate and encourage recovery, provide support for families, commemorate those who have lost their lives, and recognize those who have recovered and survived.

Addiction Awareness and Recovery 5K Run/Walk

The Addiction Awareness and Recovery 5K Run Walk takes place at the DuPage County Forest Preserve.  The Run/Walk is trail style course through woodlands, meadows and fields. The event is designed to raise awareness for addiction and support individuals in recovery. Competitive/novice runners and walkers welcome as well as children for a kids fun run.
