Philosophy Of Care

I believe that a doctor's role is to educate patients about their disease so that they can take an informed decision about the various choices of medications that are available. As an endocrinologist, I mostly see patients with chronic disease. The treatment options are vast and it can be confusing for them to decide the best option for them. I strive to always be available to my patients and build a relationship of trust and open communication, so that together we can make the best decision for them.

The Dr was fast talking and reeled off her knowledge of the thyroid, not my situation. She seemed to be needing to get out of the office. It was ...but I still expected a full appointment and more than a few quick minutes. I had several questions I needed to ask but stopped after the first two. it was obvious she had no time. She was dismissive and a little rude. I felt she did not value me or my time. She told me 'ok then" three times, I took that as my time to leave. As I was gathering my belongings she went to put on gloves and proceeded to check my thyroid. She did not ask nor tell me she literally walked towards me and started to move my scarf. I had had 20 biopsies takes three days before. My neck was sore, bruised, swollen and painful. Her assessment hurt, she had no regard for my comfort. She then changed her mind about what she had told me. I felt she should have done a physical assessment before making any decision about surgery. She also had my biopsy results. Thankfully they were benign. She dropped that in during her original welcome and i had to ask again. It should have been an important part of my time with her, not a casual no big deal feel. I will not see her again and will be looking for another endocrinologist.

called to get an appointment there was a 15 min slot opening, they said new patients need 30 mins. my appointment was at 10 a.m. the doctor came in at after 10:30 and was out the door in under a 15 mins. A patients time is just as valuable as a doctors. There is nothing that shows disrespect more than having patients wait (not 5-10 mins) 20-30 mins for their appointment.

Dr. Manchanda is professional, competent and very personable. I'm "old" but she treats me as more of a contemporary than an elderly senior citizen. She is thorough and explains everything in understandable terms. I am very happy that I was referred to her.
