While Dr. Kim was thorough and knowledgeable, her attitude was arrogant for the first half of our conversation. While I do not have a medical degree, I do have a doctorate. Each discussion of my medical history was started with an assumption as opposed to a question (ex: "oh it's just this..."). For that matter, the whole conversation was shrouded with the assumption that I did not or could not understand the concepts and questions being posed. An alternative and probably more informative way to discuss patients' historical symptoms or diagnoses (as well as background in general), could be to say "tell me about your ... [insert historical symptom/diagnosis]."
