Nurse resident program
Edward-Elmhurst Health is proud to offer a nurse residency program to help recent nursing graduates transfer into the clinical setting as healthcare professionals.
Both Edward Hospital and Elmhurst Hospital have been accredited with distinction as a Practice Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs. Accreditation with Distinction is the highest recognition awarded by the ANCC’s Accreditation Program. Edward-Elmhurst Health is honored to offer Nurse Residency Programs that exemplify a global standard and demonstrate excellence in transitioning graduate nurses to new practice settings.
During the program, each nurse resident will be assigned a facilitator or preceptor to help ensure a successful transition into nursing within a safe, nurturing learning environment.
Curriculum concepts include:
- Disease specific care
- Evidence based practice
- Communication and teamwork
- Patient-centered care
- Safety and quality
Critical thinking, professional accountability and responsibility are all emphasized throughout the program.
