Video Visits are a great option when you prefer to receive care from the comfort of home, or anywhere. A Video Visit is simply a video call which allows you to meet face-to-face, in real time, with a healthcare professional.

It’s easy. Just log in to MyChart® From there, you can either schedule a Video Visit with your provider or start Video Visit Now with the next available provider.

If you have COVID-19 symptoms, we offer Video Visits Now so you can get next steps from the comfort of home. We also offer other virtual screening options for COVID-19, including a symptom checker and a COVID-19 Line 331-221-5199.

WHEN SHOULD I USE A VIDEO VISIT?

Video Visits are available for a new health issue or as a follow-up visit for a range of issues (e.g., coronavirus symptoms, back pain, ear infections, rash, sinus issues, sore throat, upper respiratory issues, urinary tract infections and more). Call your doctor’s office to determine what type of visit is best for you.

WHO IS OFFERING VIDEO VISITS?

More than 500 of our physicians* and advanced practice clinicians are offering Video Visits to new and established Edward-Elmhurst patients of all ages. This includes internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics and a range of specialties.

*Physicians with Edward Medical Group, Elmhurst Clinic, Elmhurst Memorial Medical Group and Elmhurst Medical Associates in specialty areas like family medicine, internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and more.

HOW DO I SCHEDULE A VIDEO VISIT?

If you have a MyChart account, schedule with your provider through MyChart by clicking on "Schedule a Video Visit."

If you do not have a physician, you can find a primary care provider and schedule a Video Visit here.

Prior to scheduling a Video Visit, make sure to contact your insurance carrier to check your coverage.

WHAT HOURS ARE VIDEO VISTS AVAILABLE?

Visit Visits Now are available to all Edward-Elmhurst Health MyChart active patients on Mondays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

HOW DO I START A VIDEO VISIT?

Log in to MyChart on this app.

For a scheduled Video Visit with your provider, in MyChart click “Schedule a Video Visit” (for established patients). Then, complete the quick online eCheck-in process.

For a Video Visit Now (on-demand) with the next available provider, click "Start a Video Visit Now."

Make sure your device has a camera and test your hardware before the visit.

WHAT DO I NEED FOR A VIDEO VISIT?

  • This device or computer with a web camera and microphone. (If you don’t have a device, ask your doctor about a phone visit to meet your needs.)
  • A MyChart account with Edward-Elmhurst Health. If you don’t have an account yet, it’s easy to set one up. If you need help, call the MyChart Help Line at 630-527-5070. Once you have an account, you can do the Video Visit by logging in to MyChart.

HOW DOES A VIDEO VISIT WORK?

Before your Video Visit:

  • Find a quiet, private and well-lit space where you won’t be interrupted.
  • Fully charge your device or plug it in.
  • Make sure your device’s video and sound are on and working.
  • Have a pen and paper ready with any questions you have for your doctor.
  • Complete the quick online eCheck-in process after logging in to MyChart.

At your scheduled time:

  • Log in to MyChart.
  • Put the camera at eye level.
  • Click on "Begin Video Visit".
  • Wait for your doctor to join you.
  • Explain your health issue, listen closely and take notes.

What if I need an in-person visit?

Edward-Elmhurst Health physician offices are open if you need an in-person visit. We are taking every precaution to keep our patients safe during their visit, including masking, extensive cleaning, social distancing and staggered appointment times. Your doctor’s office can help determine what type of visit is right for you.
