Levels of care

After your initial assessment is complete, the Linden Oaks Behavioral Health care team will work with you to decide on the level of care that can best meet your needs and help you achieve your goals and return to your daily life and normal level of functioning.

Level of care means the intensity, complexity, structure and support provided in the treatment setting. In behavioral health, there are 3 main levels of care:

  • Inpatient
  • Residential
  • Outpatient which includes: Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), Medication Management/Psychiatry, Counseling, and Support Groups

Inpatient

Adolescents, adults and older adults who are experiencing severe, complex, rare and or chronic behavioral health issues such as depressionaddiction or an eating disorder may be referred to inpatient psychiatric treatment. These issues will be severely affecting their daily life and functioning in relationships, work/school and the community.

During inpatient treatment, the individual stays at Linden Oaks Behavioral Health and is closely cared for as we work toward long-term recovery. Each day includes time with therapists, psychiatrists and other mental health associates in a structured environment with safety monitoring. Treatment may also include group-based programming and family therapy.

Linden Oaks has inpatient units including:

Adolescent Mental Health (Adolescents 12 - 18 years of age)
--High School Track
--Middle School Track

Adult Mental Health (Adults 18+)

Adult Special Intensity Unit (Adults 18+)- Safe, structured environment designed to reduce external stimulation for those experiencing acute and severe psychiatric symptoms. This unit is especially useful for those who require an extensive amount of support.

Chemical Dependency/Detox Unit (Adults 18+)

Eating Disorder Unit (Adults 18+)

Geriatric Unit (Seniors 55+)

Residential

Sometimes referred to as rehab, individuals stay round the clock and have structured programming. Environment is typically more home-like and monitoring may be less frequent than Inpatient. Linden Oaks works in partnership with multiple local residential programs. This can be an alternative or follow up to inpatient treatment.

Outpatient: Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) - 5 - 6 hours

Structured 5 - 6 hour program schedule involving group, individual and family therapy to address mental health, substance misuse and/or eating disorder issues.

Outpatient: Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) - 3 - 3.5 hours

Similar to PHP, this 3 - 3.5 hr program utilizes individual, group and family therapy moving individuals toward their goals and normal daily routines.

Outpatient: Medication Management/Psychiatry

The psychiatrists, advanced practice nurses and physician assistants at Linden Oaks Medical Group manage and regulate medication for individuals requiring psychiatric medication. Individuals typically have sessions weekly or monthly depending on symptoms and need.
