Is it depression?

There are several common signs and symptoms of depression, including feelings of helplessness and hopelessness, loss of interest in daily activities, changes in appetite or eating habits, excessive sleepiness or insomnia, trouble focusing and making decisions, faltering school or work performance and failing relationships. Thoughts of death are a major risk factor and should be taken very seriously.

Depression treatment

Just as depression affects people in different ways, the road to recovery can be different from person to person. That's why Linden Oaks Behavioral Health creates a personalized treatment plan that matches your individual needs.

We may recommend a combination of treatments, such as: therapy, inpatient or outpatient services, medication and/or specialized programs for adolescents, adults and older adults.

Linden Oaks also offers treatment and support for postpartum depression.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Center

Linden Oaks has opened a Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Center for patients with treatment-resistant major depression. TMS uses a targeted, pulsed magnetic field, similar in intensity to an MRI device, to stimulate nerve cells in the area of the brain responsible for mood control and depression.

The non-invasive TMS procedure is performed in an office setting at the Linden Oaks Outpatient Center, located at 1335 N. Mill St. in Naperville. Patients typically receive therapy five days per week for four to six weeks. Each session lasts about 45 minutes.
