Is it anxiety?

Anxiety comes in many forms, including generalized anxiety, social, academic, and/or performance anxiety, phobias, post-traumatic stress, obsessive-compulsive and panic disorders.

Anxiety disorders can be difficult to recognize. In healthy people, fear is caused by a threat or challenge and helps us take action. Someone with an anxiety disorder will experience an excessive state of apprehension, uncertainty or fear, and the response is often not tied to a real threat. The anxiety persists even after a perceived threat is gone.

Anxiety treatment

The therapy for anxiety-related disorders is tailored to your individual needs. Patients take part in individual and group therapy as well as educational groups. “Ask the doctor” discussions, led by our medical director, are held weekly to give individuals the opportunity to tackle specific areas of anxiety. Mindfulness sessions are included in daily programming. This unique component helps participants connect with the moment at hand so they can take control and reduce anxious thoughts.

We also offer an Aspergers and Anxiety/Mood Disorders program as well as a School Refusal program created specifically for adolescents.
