Philosophy Of Care
Thank you for considering me as your partner in your journey to better health. A significant portion of my surgical practice focuses on breast care. There is no one size fits all course of action when it comes to breast care – and it goes beyond surgery. Each person is an individual with different needs and expectations. My role is to understand my patients so their needs and expectations can be met. Many women may not need surgery, but may need guidance and close follow-up.
For women who do need intervention, we will discuss your options and which path is right for you. Options can include stereotactic or surgical biopsy, lumpectomy or nipple-sparing mastectomy and sentinel node biopsy as needed. I collaborate closely with our plastic surgery team to achieve cosmetic results, which can help you maintain your dignity and self-esteem.
I am a member of the Edward Hospital Breast Clinic that brings specialists together for your care. I also participate in the multidisciplinary Tumor Board meetings, where I review and discuss your diagnosis with your entire treatment team to deliver seamless care. I am an active member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Having recently experienced my own health scare which resulted in surgery, I can say that the experience humbled me and has made me appreciate how emotional this time can be for the patient and the entire family. I feel this experience has made me a better person as well as a better doctor.
In addition to breast care, I also perform a variety of laparoscopic and traditional open procedures for gallbladder disease, hernias, melanoma, and benign and malignant conditions of the colon, as well as varicose vein treatment.
I have been on the medical staff at Edward Hospital since 1996, and my family and I are proud to be part of this vibrant community.
