Philosophy Of Care
A significant part of my practice focuses on breast surgery. I co-founded the Breast Clinic, a comprehensive approach in which a patient can meet with their surgeon and oncologist in one visit. I also performed the first nipple-sparing mastectomy at Edward Hospital. Not all of my patients have breast cancer, nor do they all need surgery. I work collaboratively with my patients to develop a plan of care that works best for each individual and situation. To help continually improve cancer care, I am a member of both the Cancer Committee and the Breast Program leadership at Edward Hospital. I am also a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons.
General surgery is another part of my practice. I believe in using minimally invasive approaches whenever possible to treat gallbladder disease, hernias and colon disease. As an acute care surgeon, I have the opportunity to treat a wide variety of complex conditions, too.
It’s really important to me that my patients know that I care about them and their outcomes, whether their surgery is simple or complex. It’s also a partnership. I want my patients to feel that they are partners with me in their care and that we’re in this together to reach their desired goal of being disease free. It’s a privilege to be able to care for my patients in a comprehensive way, helping them to complete their journey to health.
I am committed to the community that Edward Hospital serves both professionally and personally. My children were born at Edward Hospital and my family and I live in the area.
