How it works

Submissions are currently being accepted for the inaugural year of the program. An explanation of the complete process is below. Note, the deadline to submit applications for the Fall FY19 round is Dec. 3, 2018.

  1. Begin thinking through your idea. Why is this idea important to you? How does it transform the healthcare experience? What issue affecting healthcare do you want to tackle?
  2. Submit your idea via the Driven Idea Lab online application. The deadline is Dec. 3, 2018.

  3. A selection committee will review your application and determine whether your project will advance to the next round.
  4. When you submit your application, you'll be asked to group your idea into one of two categories:
    1. "Go for It" ideas: Small scale improvements that can be implemented right away. Winners will receive a monetary award of $250.
    2. Semi-finalists: Large scale improvements or products. Winners will advance to the next phase. All semi-finalists will receive $500 and are invited to participate in two workshops to further refine their idea and:

      - Receive mentorship support
      - Strengthen ideas from a business perspective
  5. Following workshops, finalists will be determined and asked to participate in the Driven Idea Lab Winners' Circle. Participants will pitch their idea to a panel of judges from Edward-Elmhurst Health, including Mary Lou Mastro, EEH President & CEO, and other business savvy leaders.
  6. Three Big Winners will be selected. The first place winner will receive a $10,000 prize, second place a $7,500 prize and third place a $5,000 prize.
