Children under age 18
Those under age 18 who are being vaccinated: Parents/guardians must sign the consent forms AND be physically in attendance at the time of the vaccine.
Children ages 5-17 are only eligible for the Pfizer vaccine at this time. Children ages 5-11 receive a pediatric dose of the Pfizer vaccine (10 micrograms) compared to 30 micrograms for ages 12 and up.
Walk-in vaccine appointments
We are also offering walk-in visits for the single-dose and booster* dose Janssen (J&J) vaccine (ages 18 and up) at Edward-Elmhurst Health Center and Immediate Care - Lombard (130 S. Main Street, Lombard).
No appointment needed (subject to vaccine availability). Hours: Monday-Friday: 8 am-8 pm, Weekends: 8 am-4 pm.
*Eligibility for a third dose or booster dose
Those eligible for a third dose of Pfizer (ages 5+) or Moderna (ages 18+) include certain moderately to severely immunocompromised individuals. This third dose is considered part of their initial vaccination series and is given 28 days after their second shot.
The CDC recommends a booster shot for ages 12 and older. You can get a booster if it's been at least 5 months since your second Pfizer or Moderna shot, or at least 2 months since your single-dose Janssen (J&J) shot.
For adults age 18 and older, any of the COVID-19 vaccines authorized in the United States can be used for the booster dose. Children ages 12-17 are authorized to receive a Pfizer booster. Read the CDC's booster shot recommendations.
Patients who receive the COVID-19 vaccine at Edward-Elmhurst Health are required to opt in to I-CARE, which retains vaccine data permanently. I-CARE was developed by the IDPH and is designed to protect patient confidentiality while providing access to statewide registry information.
