E-Visit for coronavirus (COVID-19) screening

Edward-Elmhurst Health is offering E-Visits to screen for coronavirus (COVID-19) as well as other common non-urgent health conditions.

E-Visits enable you to connect with an Edward-Elmhurst Health provider online, replacing an in-person visit. With an E-Visit, you’ll receive an online diagnosis and treatment plan. If you need prescriptions, they’ll be sent directly to your pharmacy.

To complete an E-Visit, you need to be 12 years of age or older and in the state of Illinois. E-Visits for COVID-19 symptoms are available for patients 12 months old or older, however.

E-Visits are currently available to patients who do not have a primary care physician or those who have a primary care physician with Edward Medical Group or Elmhurst Clinic. Find a list of these providers here

How can I begin an E-Visit?

Complete and submit a secure online questionnaire about your condition and medical history through our secure patient portal, MyChart®.

  1. Log in to MyChart on your computer or the mobile app.
  2. Click "Begin and E-Visit" under the "Visits" tab or tap the "E-Visit" button on the mobile app.
  3. Start the E-Visit for COVID-19 screening by selecting "COVID-19 symptoms"*. Other symptoms are also available for an E-Visit, such as back pain, cough and/or cold symptoms, headache and red eye.

If you need more immediate medical care, visit one of our Walk-In Clinics or Immediate Care Centers. For medical emergencies, call 911 immediately.

What can I expect during an E-Visit?

We will submit your E-Visit directly to your insurance carrier. If we do not have your insurance information on file or if you do not currently have coverage, we may follow up with you after your visit. Based on your insurance plan, you may be responsible for a copay, co-insurance and/or deductible.

It generally takes 10-20 minutes to complete your E-Visit request.

All E-Visits are handled by Physician Assistants (PAs) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs). You can expect a response from our staff within 24 hours.

Don’t have a MyChart account?

It’s easier than ever to sign up. Request MyChart activation at your next doctor or hospital visit, or request an activation code online.

Once you have a MyChart account, you can log in 24/7 through the MyChart web site or, even better, from the MyEEHealth app!

*An E-Visit may be used to screen for COVID-19 if you have a fever and/or symptoms of respiratory illness, such as a cough or difficulty breathing, if you’ve been in close contact with a person known to have COVID-19, or if you live in or recently traveled to an area with COVID-19. After completing the E-Visit, your healthcare provider will determine your appropriate level of care.
