Elmhurst Hospital maintains straight-A streak in Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades

ElmhurstHospital Elmhurst Hospital earned an A and Edward Hospital in Naperville earned a B in The Leapfrog Group’s Fall 2020 Hospital Safety Grades. Edward and Elmhurst Hospitals are part of the Edward-Elmhurst Health system.

The Safety Grade assigns letter grades of A, B, C, D and F to hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms. Leapfrog uses up to 27 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades to more than 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year.

The continuation of Elmhurst Hospital’s straight-A streak in the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades is just one of several honors, awards and recognitions related to quality and safety achieved by Edward-Elmhurst Health over the last year:

For the second time, Elmhurst Hospital achieved designation as a Magnet hospital for nursing excellence from the American Nurses Credentialing Center ANCC). Elmhurst Hospital was originally recognized as a Magnet hospital in 2015.

For the fourth time, Edward Hospital achieved recognition as a Magnet hospital for nursing excellence from the ANCC. Edward was originally recognized as a Magnet hospital in 2005 and re-designated in 2010 and 2014.

Fortune/IBM Watson Health named Edward-Elmhurst Health one of the nation’s 15 Top Health Systems for the second year in a row.

Edward Hospital and Elmhurst Hospital made Fortune/IBM Watson Health’s 100 Top Hospitals list and were named Everest Award winners for being among the fastest-improving hospitals in the country over the last five years.

Edward Hospital and Elmhurst Hospital each received five stars in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings.

Edward-Elmhurst Health was named among the “Most Wired” hospitals and health systems in the country by the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives.

The Emergency Nurses Association named Edward Hospital and Elmhurst Hospital as recipients of its 2020 Lantern Award, which recognizes emergency departments that demonstrate excellent practice and innovative performance through leadership, education, advocacy and research.
