Edward, Elmhurst Hospitals earn “A” in Leapfrog Fall 2019 Hospital Safety Grades

Edward Hospital, in Naperville, and Elmhurst Hospital, part of the Edward-Elmhurst Health system, each earned an A in The Leapfrog Group’s Fall 2019 Hospital Safety Grades.

Elmhurst Hospital is one of only 36 hospitals in the U.S. to achieve an A in every update since Leapfrog began the Hospital Safety Grades in the spring of 2012. To see details of Edward and Elmhurst’s A grades, visit www.hospitalsafetygrade.org.

The Leapfrog Group is a national organization committed to improving health care quality and safety for consumers and purchasers. Leapfrog uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D or F grade twice a year to 2,600 acute-care hospitals across the country based on their performance in preventing medical errors, infections and other harms among patients in their care.

Elmhurst Hospital has also been named a Top General Hospital by The Leapfrog Group three years in a row (2016, 2017, 2018) for achievements in patient safety and quality. Edward Hospital was named a Top General Hospital by The Leapfrog Group in 2017.

In addition, Edward-Elmhurst Health, which includes Edward and Elmhurst Hospitals, and Linden Oaks Behavioral Health, has been recognized as one of the nation’s 15 Top Health Systems by IBM Watson Health.
