Elm Hosp Run Month April 2019 v2

Elmhurst Hospital’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) has awarded its “Run of the Month” for April 2019 to the Elmhurst Fire Dept. for their treatment of a 74-year-old Elmhurst man who was suffering from cardiac arrest.

On April 21, Elmhurst Police Dept. officers arrived first and started cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Elmhurst Fire Dept. paramedics continued care of the patient, including use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) and advanced cardiac life support protocols, throughout transport to the Elmhurst Hospital Emergency Dept. The patient was successfully resuscitated, cared for at Elmhurst Hospital and discharged 16 days later.
