Elmhurst Hospital’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) has awarded its “Run of the Month” for Dec. 2018 to the Elmhurst Fire Dept.
Crew members were recognized for their care on Dec. 2 of a 45-year-old man who was suffering a heart attack. Following several shocks with an automated external defibrillator and use of an automated chest compression device, the patient was transported to the Elmhurst Hospital Emergency Department. He was later treated in Elmhurst Hospital’s cardiac catheterization lab where a stent was inserted to treat a blocked coronary artery. He was discharged from the hospital two weeks later.
