Elmhurst Nurse Residency Program earns accreditation

March 06, 2019

Elmhurst Hospital’s Nurse Residency Program has been accredited with distinction as a Practice Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) Commission on Accreditation.

Accreditation with distinction is the highest level of accreditation by the ANCC. Elmhurst Hospital is the 79th program nationally to receive this recognition.

“We’re so pleased with this tremendous accomplishment by our staff,” says Pamela Dunley, President & CEO, Elmhurst Hospital. “This program can make a big difference for the career of a new nurse.”

Elmhurst Hospital’s Nurse Residency Program helps recent nursing graduates transfer into the clinical setting. This year-long program has each nurse resident assigned a facilitator or preceptor to help ensure a successful transition into nursing within a safe, nurturing learning environment.

The ANCC Practice Transition Accreditation Program sets the global standard for residency programs that demonstrate excellence in transitioning nurses to new practice settings.
