The first annual Elmhurst Memorial Hospital (EMH) Foundation Mary Ann Malloy, MD Career Enrichment Fund scholarship has been awarded to Paulina Crescimone, RN, a resident of Westmont.
Crescimone, a Charge Nurse and Team Leader on the 60-bed cardiovascular unit at Elmhurst Hospital, was presented with a $5,000 check on Nov. 6. She is a student in the Adult-Geriatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner Doctoral Program at Rush University.
The Foundation established the Fund in recognition of Dr. Malloy’s more than 30 years as a member of the Foundation Board of Trustees and distinguished career as an internal medicine physician with Elmhurst Clinic.
The Fund supports advancement in cardiology or cardiac surgery at Elmhurst Hospital and Elmhurst Clinic by providing education and enrichment opportunities for Elmhurst Hospital employees, including G.E.D., Clinical, Graduate or Post Graduate education, and conference/symposium attendance. The award gives preference to employees who focus their studies in the area of chronic heart failure.
Dr. Malloy, a Foundation Trustee for 31 years, served as Vice-Chair of the Board, was the founding Chairman of the Special Event Committee (now the Autumn Affair gala) and Co-Chaired the Capital Campaign for the new Main Hospital building project. She was a member of the hospital’s Medical Staff from 1972 – 2017, served on several committees and held numerous leadership positions until her retirement earlier this year.
