Neurointerventional lab

Edward-Elmhurst Health offers a state-of-the-art neurointerventional lab located at Edward Hospital. In affiliation with Northwestern Medicine, neurosurgeons in the Edward Neurosciences Institute perform surgeries in the brain and spine using minimally invasive techniques whenever possible.

The lab features 3D technology that provides dramatic image quality for our neurointerventionalists — the physicians who perform the procedures in the lab. This advanced technology helps to reduce your procedure time, radiation exposure and time under anesthesia.

In the neurointerventional lab, our doctors can stop a stroke in its tracks and even reverse its effects. In one procedure, the neurointerventionalist maneuvers a tiny catheter from an artery in the patient’s leg, past the heart and into the blood vessels in the far reaches of the brain, grabs the clot and then removes it.
