COVID-19 (Coronavirus)  - Important information for visitors

Because the safety and protection of patients, staff, physicians and community is an absolute priority for Edward-Elmhurst Health, we have put the following visitor restrictions in place during the Coronavirus outbreak. View visitor restrictions and screening process

We understand your family and friends are important to your comfort, healing and recovery. We ask that you follow these visiting guidelines:

  • Visitors who are not completely healthy or have been exposed to a communicable disease should postpone visiting until symptoms subside.
  • After 9 p.m., visitors should wear or carry a visitor ID.
  • Some units have ‘quiet time hours’ in the afternoon for patients to get needed rest.

Please let staff members know if you have special visiting needs.

Pediatrics/Pediatric Intensive Care: 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

  • Parents may be in the Pediatrics Department all day and one parent may spend the night.

Obstetrics visiting hours

Mother/Baby (OB) & Antepartum: 7 a.m. - 8 p.m.

  • All visitors must be healthy and 18 years or older.
  • Healthy siblings of the newborn may visit during visiting hours and must be accompanied by an adult other than the patient.
  • Only 1 support person or Doula over the age of 18 may spend the night.
  • For the safety of our patients, visitation may be limited per the discretion of the health care team.

Labor and Delivery: 24/7

  • Patients may designate one support person 18 years or older.
  • In addition to the support person, patients may have two visitors 18 years or older (visitors may rotate).
  • Doulas are a member of the care team and are not counted as visitors.
  • During the pushing stage and delivery, patients may have one designated support person, a doula (if applicable) and one visitor (may not rotate).
  • For the safety of our patients, visitation may be limited per the discretion of the health care team.
Triage
  • One visitor.

Surgery and Recovery

  • One designated support person (may not rotate).
  • Doulas are not allowed in the operating or recovery room.
